In the spotlight!

Each month, we aim our spotlight at someone dedicated to the Maastricht region, a beautiful conference destination. This month, that someone is Mark J Post, MD, PhD, Professor and Chair of Physiology of the Maastricht University. From October 18-20th 2015, he organised the 1st International Brightlands Symposium on Cultured Meat for more than 300 delegates. He also is member of the conference ambassadors club Amici ad Mosam.

Each In the spotlight participant will be asked the same five questions. Here is Mark Post’s response:

1. Why do you love the Maastricht region?

“The landscape is beautiful, the surroundings quiet, yet there are plenty cultural possibilities, especially when including the neighboring cities in Germany and Belgium.”

2. What is your most favourite memory?

“All the race bike tours in the area. When I know that guests are bike-riders, I enjoy inviting them for a tour. This is guaranteed to be a success!”

3. What is your “hidden treasure” and why?

“The Jezuïetenberg (cave). A unique location with interesting and unexpected works of art, made by monks of various countries.”

4. Why should any conference organiser or association organise their conference in the Maastricht region at least once in their lifetime?

“Because of the good and cooperative congress centre, fine hotels. attractive and compact city and the many shops, restaurants and bars Maastricht has to offer.”

5. What does the Maastricht Convention Bureau mean to you?

“They are the facilitator of various conveniences, such as contacting the municipality, congress centre, transport options, accommodation arrangements and reservations. Through them, you have 1 interlocutor for all there activities. Besides that, they can offer sponsoring.”
