Brightlands creates synergies between different areas of expertise in the region. This is where researchers and entrepreneurs join forces to tackle global challenges in materials, health, smart services and food.

Brightlands – knowledge crossing borders
Brightlands is an ambitious community for open innovation in health and sustainability. At the four rapidly growing Brightlands campuses, researchers, entrepreneurs, investors and students develop new solutions in the fields of materials, health, food and smart services. They find what they need here for their personal and professional development: trendsetting know-how, unique R&D technology, continuous learning pathways, active valorisation and an international atmosphere.
Brightlands is located at the heart of the Eindhoven-Aachen-Leuven cross-border technology triangle.
At Brightlands, co-creation in open knowledge networks is a central theme. The four campuses work closely together, and offer state-of-the-art facilities for fundamental and applied research. The expertise available at the campuses dovetails with the existing developmental capacity in the regional business environment and specific knowledge at universities and higher secondary educational institutions. The campuses work across scientific, geographical and organizational borders to derive the optimal benefits of one another’s fields of expertise.
Brightlands is the result of intensive triple-helix partnerships between government, knowledge institutes and entrepreneurs.
Areas of expertise
There are four Brightlands Campuses, each with their own area of expertise:.
Working within the Brightlands ecosystem means being part of an inspiring open innovation community. It is a community closely connected to the network of the eight national top science and innovation parks, and is also part of Health Axis Europe, an alliance between the leading medical clusters, Leuven, Heidelberg, Copenhagen and Brightlands.
Brightlands is always looking to expand relationships and exchange knowledge and ideas, as congress organizers and delegates do. You are more than welcome at the campuses for company visits and networking moments during site visits and during your conference. Contact the Maastricht Convention Bureau for more information.
